PSIS Secures 3-1 Victory Over PSBS: Key to Their Success

PSIS Semarang earned a crucial three points in their away match against PSBS Biak at the Lukas Enembe Stadium in Jayapura on Sunday, January 26, 2025. Despite being under pressure for much of the game, PSIS came away with a 3-1 victory.
Following the match, PSIS head coach Gilbert Agius praised his team's performance, calling it an important win. He acknowledged that PSBS Biak put up strong resistance, especially in the first half, creating numerous crosses into the penalty box.
According to Gilbert, the key to PSIS's victory was executing a counter-attack strategy that was carefully planned from the start, along with a solid defensive setup that involved three key defenders.
The team’s defensive strength was evident through the performance of their main defenders—Joao Ferrari, Lucas Barreto, and Ruxi—who played a pivotal role in managing PSBS's attacking threats. Gilbert explained that their defense was crucial in neutralizing PSBS's crossing game, which is one of their strong points, as they would deliver crosses into the box where their striker was waiting.
PSIS's goals came from Sudi Abdallah (46'), Ridho Syuhada Putra (80'), and Ridho Syuhada again (97'), while PSBS's sole goal was scored by Alexandro in the 49th minute.
This victory is vital for PSIS to maintain their distance from the relegation zone and also breaks their five-match winless streak. Ridho Syuhada, one of the goal scorers, expressed his gratitude for the win, especially since the team was missing a few players. He added that the win would serve as motivation for their upcoming matches.
