Shin Tae-yong Remains Silent After Being Dismissed as Indonesia National Team Coach, Contrasting with PSSI’s Response

PSSI officially ended Shin Tae-yong’s tenure as coach on January 6, 2025. The PSSI president, Erick Thohir, explained that internal team dynamics, including issues within the locker room, were key factors behind the decision.

The PSSI quickly appointed a new coach, announcing Patrick Kluivert as the successor just one day later via social media. This swift transition sparked rumors and widespread discussion, with even Marc Klok commenting on the communication issues under Shin Tae-yong in an interview with a Dutch media outlet.

Despite the media attention, Shin Tae-yong has not made any official statements since his departure. He has chosen to keep a low profile, refraining from any interviews or social media posts about his dismissal.

As of Friday morning, January 10, there have been no comments from Shin Tae-yong on the situation, though he has shared posts from players Ernando Ari and Rizky Ridho, as well as commented on a post from his assistant coach Nova Arianto.

Meanwhile, PSSI has been proactive in communicating with the public, offering explanations through interviews, podcasts, and media discussions. PSSI Executive Committee member Arya Sinulingga spoke publicly about the matter on January 7 at GBK Arena, and Erick Thohir was also vocal, appearing on various media outlets like Liputan6 and Kompas TV to address the ongoing situation.
