Persebaya Surabaya Targets New Goalkeeper to Support Ernando Ari in Upcoming Season
Persebaya Surabaya is reportedly in the market for a new goalkeeper to serve as backup for their current first-choice keeper, Ernando Ari Sutaryadi, ahead of the 2025-26 BRI Super League season. Sources indicate that the club has already reached an agreement with a promising goalkeeper who is expected to join the squad and wear the green jersey next season. The candidate is rumored to be an experienced player, possibly with national team experience or from a major club.

Currently, Persebaya relies heavily on Ernando Ari, who is well-established as the team’s number one and has been a consistent figure in Indonesia’s national youth teams. The club also has Andhika Ramadhani as the second goalkeeper, who has proven himself capable when filling in during Ernando’s absence, delivering strong performances in goal.

Among the potential recruits for the new goalkeeper role, two names have surfaced: Rendy Oscario and M. Darmawan. However, Darmawan appears to be the frontrunner, as Rendy has recently been training with Bhayangkara FC. Darmawan, a former Indonesia U-22 goalkeeper, has prior experience working under coach Felipe Americano, which could work in his favor for the backup position.

Persebaya has maintained a policy of relying on local goalkeepers and has not signed foreign goalkeepers since last season. The trust in the quality and consistency of their current Indonesian keepers, combined with the coach’s confidence, seems to steer the club toward strengthening their goalkeeping options from domestic talents rather than looking abroad.
