Justin Hubner Parts Ways with Wolves, Opens New Chapter as Free Agent
Indonesian national team defender Justin Hubner has officially ended his time with Wolverhampton Wanderers following the club’s decision not to extend his contract. As of the summer transfer window, Hubner becomes a free agent alongside seven other players whose contracts also expired. This marks the end of his four-year journey with the English club.

Hubner initially joined Wolves’ youth academy in 2020 after moving from Dutch side FC Den Bosch. In 2023, he signed a new two-and-a-half-year deal meant to run until mid-2025. Despite this, the club opted for an early release. While he never made an appearance for Wolves’ senior squad in the Premier League, he was a consistent figure in the club’s development team, featuring prominently in the Premier League 2 during the 2023-24 season.

In the most recent campaign, Hubner gained valuable first-team experience through a loan spell with Cerezo Osaka in Japan’s top-tier J1 League. He played in eight matches across league and cup competitions, showcasing his adaptability in a new football environment. His performances hinted at potential that could be further explored in more competitive leagues.

Now officially a free agent, Hubner has the opportunity to explore offers from clubs across different continents. Whether continuing in Europe, returning to Asia, or considering a move to Indonesia, his next step remains open. The release from Wolves provides a chance for a fresh start and greater playing opportunities at the senior level.
