PSSI in Process of Naturalizing Goalkeeper and Striker Players?

Former Indonesian footballer Yussa Nugraha, who had a career in the Netherlands, revealed some exciting news for Indonesian national team fans. He disclosed that PSSI is currently working on the naturalization of four dual-nationality players to become Indonesian citizens. Two of the players who are already confirmed are Ole Romeny and Jairo Riedewald. Romeny is set to swear the Indonesian oath in England in early February 2025.

Meanwhile, Riedewald’s naturalization documents are being processed. Due to a suspension he received from his club for a red card, the 28-year-old midfielder is expected to arrive in Indonesia either this week or next to undergo medical tests and interviews with Indonesia's National Intelligence Agency (BIN).

In addition to Romeny and Riedewald, Yussa mentioned that two more players are expected to arrive in March 2025. He shared that one is a striker and the other a goalkeeper. Yussa hinted at this information, revealing it came from PSSI sources.

So, who are these two players? Based on recent rumors, it’s speculated that the players being referred to are Emil Audero (goalkeeper) and Miliano Jonathans (striker). Audero’s potential move to the Indonesian national team has been a hot topic recently, especially after he was seen shaking hands with PSSI President Erick Thohir in April 2024. Additionally, Audero’s recent Instagram post with a “goodbye” message to Como 1907 further fueled speculation about his commitment to the Indonesian national team.

As for Miliano Jonathans, he has been asked multiple times about his chance to represent Indonesia. After transferring from Vitesse Arnhem to FC Utrecht, Jonathans stated he would decide whether to choose Indonesia in the summer of 2025. However, given the number of high-profile players interested in joining the national team, Jonathans may make a quicker decision.

If Romeny, Riedewald, Jonathans, and Audero all join the Indonesian squad by March 2025, Indonesia’s chances of winning against Australia on March 20, 2025, could greatly improve.
