Arema FC Gets Green Light to Play at Kanjuruhan Stadium Again, With Conditions
Arema FC has officially received approval to return to their home ground, Kanjuruhan Stadium in Malang, for the upcoming matches of Liga 1 2024-25. The Ministry of Public Works (Kemen PU), responsible for the stadium's renovations, has granted the club permission to use the facility.

Prior to the approval, Arema’s representatives had traveled to Jakarta to meet with officials from the Ministry of Public Works to discuss the use of the stadium, which is expected to be officially reopened on January 21, 2025.
Arema’s General Manager, Yusrinal Fitriandi, confirmed that the club had already met with local government officials, including the Malang regent, the regional secretary, and representatives from the local sports and revenue departments.
“We haven’t gone into the finer details yet, but fortunately, the Malang regional government has given us the green light to use Kanjuruhan Stadium,” said Yusrinal.
However, the green light comes with certain conditions and procedures that need to be followed before the club can fully return to Kanjuruhan. Yusrinal explained that there are additional requirements set by the local government, especially in terms of safety and comfort for fans.
“The regent emphasized that ensuring safety and comfort for the spectators and Arema supporters is a priority. He also pointed out that there needs to be a new system in place for how fans watch games at the stadium. This is likely in response to the Kanjuruhan tragedy, which remains a critical concern for them,” he added.
