Ahead of this high-profile clash, City forward Phil Foden shared his thoughts in a pre-match interview
In Round 13 of he Premier League, Manchester City will travel to face Liverpool. Ahead of this high-profile clash, City forward Phil Foden shared his thoughts in a pre-match interview.

Foden said:
“Playing for Manchester City is always something to look forward to, and I don’t think Sunday’s game at Anfield will be any different. Although our recent results haven’t been ideal, that doesn’t change our determination. We need to go there and give everything to win. This is a game we have to take, and we need to have that belief.”
“Football is an unpredictable and timeless sport, and it’s too early to draw conclusions. Liverpool look strong and seem difficult to beat, but we’ll wait to see how the match unfolds and what the result will be.”
Reflecting on the 3-3 draw with Feyenoord, Foden said:
“Obviously, the result was incredible and hard to take, especially since we were in control for most of the game. But that’s the reality of football. Over the past few days, I’ve been working on moving past that result and focusing on what’s ahead.”
“Our goals conceded were somewhat unlucky, and while some parts of our performance were decent, this is just part of football. Other teams are very capable, and when they face City, they give everything they’ve got, which has been challenging for us lately.”
“Their performances weren’t surprising; their quality justifies their results. On the other hand, we didn’t play to our best. This situation is new for me, and I’ve learned a lot from it.”
Discussing the Liverpool game, Foden said:
“I feel okay about my form. Every footballer goes through ups and downs, and I’ll keep pushing forward, hoping to get back to my best soon. It would be a great opportunity to score in the Premier League, but the most important thing is for the team to win. If we can secure a good result, it will significantly boost our confidence.”
On the rivalry between Liverpool and City, he added:
“Liverpool have undoubtedly been one of our toughest competitors over the past few years. This match means a lot to me, and I’m eager to perform well. It’s the kind of game every player looks forward to.”
