Port FC Makes History as First Foreign Club to Win President's Cup

Port FC carved its name into the history books by becoming the first non-Indonesian team to win the President’s Cup, securing the title after a 2-1 victory over England’s Oxford United in the final match. The game took place at Si Jalak Harupat Stadium and was marked by a competitive spirit, with Port FC scoring twice through Teerasak Poeiphimai and Barayan Perea, while Oxford responded with a goal from Mark Harris.
This year's President's Cup was unique as it welcomed foreign clubs for the first time since the tournament's inception in 2015. Both international participants, Port FC from Thailand and Oxford United from England, impressed by reaching the final, making it a historic all-foreign championship clash. Port FC’s victory thus set a precedent as the first foreign side to lift the trophy.
Among Indonesian clubs, Dewa United achieved the best result by finishing in third place after defeating the Liga Indonesia All Star team. Their performance marked a notable accomplishment in a tournament that was increasingly competitive due to the inclusion of international teams.
In addition to the title, Port FC received a prize of IDR 5.5 billion, while Oxford United earned IDR 3 billion as runners-up. The match itself was intense and physical, resulting in a red card for Tanaboon Kesarat following a harsh tackle. Weather conditions also played a role, as heavy rain forced a temporary halt early in the second half, adding drama to an already thrilling final.
