Persib Officially Welcomes Argentine Defender Patricio Matricardi with Unique Announcement
Persib Bandung has officially introduced Argentine center-back Patricio Matricardi as their newest signing ahead of the 2025-26 Liga 1 season. The club chose an unconventional approach to announce the recruitment by sending personalized posters of Matricardi through PT POS Indonesia, aiming to create a deeper, more personal connection in a digital age. This creative reveal reflects Persib’s effort to engage fans uniquely while strengthening their squad.

Born in Florencio Varela, Argentina, Matricardi is a 31-year-old defender known for his height and defensive skills, standing at 190 cm tall. He last played for FC Botosani in Romania’s top league, where he appeared in 22 matches and helped the club secure a 13th-place finish. His arrival completes Persib’s quota of eight foreign players for the upcoming season, bolstering the team’s defensive options.

Persib’s foreign lineup now consists of five Brazilians, two Argentinians, and a Welsh goalkeeper, all handpicked by head coach Bojan Hodak. Hodak prioritizes player quality and tactical fit over nationality, focusing solely on building a strong squad capable of defending their Liga 1 title. His approach marks a departure from previous eras when foreign signings were not always his direct choices.

This is the first time all foreign recruits are fully selected by Hodak, emphasizing his vision and control over the team’s composition. Earlier foreign players at Persib were carryovers from former coaches, but with this fresh batch, Hodak aims to craft a competitive and cohesive squad ready to challenge for top honors in Indonesian football.
