Neymar Commits to Santos with Contract Extension Through 2025

Neymar has extended his contract with his childhood club Santos until the end of 2025, with an option to stay through the 2026 World Cup. The Brazilian forward, who returned to Santos earlier this year after leaving Saudi Arabia’s Al Hilal, sees the club as his true home and aims to achieve unfinished dreams there. This new agreement strengthens his bond with the club where he grew up and began his professional journey.
Despite battling injuries this year, Neymar’s presence has brought significant benefits off the pitch for Santos. His return has sparked record growth in the club’s social media following and boosted commercial opportunities, including a lucrative image rights deal between Santos and Neymar’s management company. This partnership is seen as a key part of the club’s ongoing rebuilding efforts to reclaim its former status in Brazilian football.
Neymar’s playing time has been limited due to recurring muscle issues and a serious ACL injury sustained during international duty in late 2023. Though he has not yet made a comeback to Brazil’s national team, Neymar remains focused on regaining full fitness and contributing to his club’s progress in Brazil’s top division, where Santos currently struggles in the standings.
While Neymar’s future beyond Santos is still uncertain, there has been reported interest from European clubs competing in the Champions League. Nonetheless, the forward’s immediate priority is to solidify his role at Santos and prepare for what could be his fourth World Cup appearance, continuing to add to his legacy as Brazil’s all-time top scorer.
