Persija Appoints Former National Team Star to Youth Coaching Staff

Persija Jakarta has officially welcomed former Indonesian national team defender Maman Abdurahman into a new role within the club, this time off the field. Ahead of the 2025-26 Liga 1 season, Maman joins Persija's Youth Development coaching staff, transitioning from a long and decorated playing career to mentoring the next generation of football talent. His appointment was announced through Persija Elite Pro Academy’s official social media.
Maman recently announced his retirement from professional football, ending a 24-year career that spanned several top Indonesian clubs, including Persija, Persib, PSIS, and Sriwijaya FC. Known for his leadership and consistency on the pitch, he earned 30 caps with the Indonesian national team and played a vital role in Persija’s 2018 Liga 1 and President’s Cup victories. His long stint with Persija, where he made 162 appearances, solidified his status as a club legend.
Now focused on youth development, Maman is expected to use his wealth of experience to help shape Persija’s future stars. His deep understanding of Indonesian football, both at the club and national level, brings credibility and inspiration to Persija’s academy system. The club sees his presence as a valuable asset in nurturing skilled and competitive players who can represent Persija and Indonesia on larger stages.
