David da Silva’s Departure Triggers Full Foreign Squad Overhaul at Persib
Persib Bandung has confirmed a complete overhaul of their foreign player lineup following the departure of David da Silva, the club’s all-time top scorer. Despite still having a year left on his contract, da Silva parted ways with the club, with speculation suggesting another team activated his release clause. During his three-and-a-half-season stint, he played a pivotal role in Persib’s success, including back-to-back Liga 1 titles.

David da Silva’s impressive record includes 69 goals and 17 assists across 103 appearances, surpassing the achievements of former club legends like Sutiono Lamso and Cristian Gonzales. He also made a notable impact in the AFC Champions League Two, scoring three goals in four matches, further cementing his legacy at the club.

His departure marks the end of an era for Persib, as they have now released all of their foreign players from the previous season. Before da Silva, the exits of players like Ciro Alves, Nick Kuipers, Kevin Ray Mendoza, and several others had already signaled a massive squad transition. The club also lost a number of local talents, including experienced names like Victor Igbonefo and Rachmat Irianto.

At present, Persib has only confirmed one new signing, Saddil Ramdani, as they prepare for the upcoming season. Under the guidance of head coach Bojan Hodak, the team is expected to undergo significant changes to rebuild their squad and maintain competitive performance after a championship-winning campaign.
