President’s Cup 2025 Set to Kick Off with International Clubs and Record Prize Pool
The 2025 President’s Cup is set to begin on July 6, bringing together six competitive football teams, including prominent Indonesian clubs and two international teams. This edition marks a more compact format, featuring Persib, Arema, and Dewa United representing Indonesia, alongside Oxford United from England and Port FC from Thailand. The opening ceremony and match will be held at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, chosen due to the unfit condition of the Gelora Bandung Lautan Api pitch following the recent Liga 1 championship celebrations.

This seventh edition introduces fresh elements, particularly the inclusion of foreign clubs. Oxford United and Port FC have been invited to raise the standard of play and offer a more challenging environment for local talents. The organizers hope these additions will help strengthen the Indonesian national team through exposure to international-level competition. Port FC, where national player Asnawi currently plays, and Oxford United, home to rising star Ole, are seen as strong partners for this mission.

To further highlight domestic talent, the tournament will also feature a special Indonesia All Stars team. This team is envisioned as a platform for showcasing emerging players and maintaining the visibility of established stars. It reflects the broader goal of developing a sustainable and star-studded national league, while simultaneously improving the country’s footballing profile on the international stage.

The 2025 edition offers a substantial prize pool to reward performance. The champion will receive Rp 5.5 billion, an increase from the initially announced Rp 5 billion, while the runner-up is set to take home Rp 3 billion. Teams finishing third and fourth will earn Rp 2 billion and Rp 1 billion respectively. With only four matches required to claim the title, the tournament promises both excitement and high stakes, giving fans and players alike plenty to look forward to this July.
