Clement Lenglet Ends Barcelona Chapter, Seals Permanent Move to Atletico Madrid
Clement Lenglet has officially parted ways with Barcelona following a mutual agreement to terminate his contract. This decision came after extended negotiations between both parties, aiming to provide a clean break as Lenglet transitions to a new chapter in his career. The French defender, who was originally signed from Sevilla in 2018, had been out of Barcelona’s core plans in recent seasons and spent much of that time on loan.

His most recent loan spell at Atletico Madrid proved successful enough to earn him a permanent transfer. Although Lenglet’s contract with Barcelona was set to run until 2027, the agreement to terminate it early enabled him to join Atletico without complications. Demonstrating his commitment to moving forward, Lenglet reportedly waived a significant portion of his remaining salary, amounting to approximately 16 million euros, to facilitate the deal.

Atletico Madrid has since confirmed Lenglet's signing on a three-year contract that will keep him at the club until 2028. During his loan stint last season under coach Diego Simeone, the 27-year-old featured in 34 matches across all competitions and contributed with three goals and two assists. His consistent performance helped reinforce his value as a dependable option in Atletico’s defensive setup.

Now a permanent member of the Atletico Madrid squad, Lenglet is set to continue his career at the Metropolitano Stadium. The club’s supporters are eager to see how he builds on his solid debut season and contributes further in the coming campaign. His experience and familiarity with Simeone’s tactics position him well to play a more prominent role in the team’s defensive line.
