Persib Eyes Cyrus Margono as Successor to Departing Goalkeeper Kevin Mendoza
Persib Bandung is reportedly targeting Cyrus Margono to replace Kevin Ray Mendoza, who has departed the club after a successful two-season stint. Mendoza, known for his strong performances and contributions to Persib's championship runs, is rumored to be moving to Chonburi FC, a newly promoted team in the Thai League. While no official announcement has been made by Chonburi, Mendoza is expected to focus on international duty with the Philippines before joining his new club.

The potential signing of Cyrus Margono presents an intriguing option for Persib. At just 23 years old, Cyrus brings youth and international experience, having never played in Indonesia’s Liga 1 but currently performing well in Europe. His current club, KF Dukagjini in Kosovo, has relied heavily on him, with the tall 191 cm goalkeeper appearing regularly since joining in February 2025. His record includes 18 appearances, 17 goals conceded, and six clean sheets.

Cyrus represents a unique blend of local and international potential. Though he holds Indonesian citizenship, his career has thus far developed overseas, making him a rare case of a "local with international experience." If Persib manages to secure his services, it would mark his first stint in Indonesia’s domestic league, potentially giving the club a competitive edge in reshaping its squad under Bojan Hodak’s leadership.

Joining Persib could also be a strategic move for Cyrus in terms of national team aspirations. Despite being eligible for Indonesia, he has not yet received a call-up from head coach Patrick Kluivert. A high-profile move to one of Indonesia’s top clubs could enhance his visibility and increase his chances of breaking into the national team setup.
