7th Jun. Six Liga 1 Clubs Fined Hundreds of Millions by PSSI for Flare Incidents

Six Indonesian Liga 1 football clubs have been penalized by the PSSI Disciplinary Committee following multiple flare-related incidents that disrupted matches. The penalties, which total hundreds of millions of rupiah, were handed down after a disciplinary session held on May 28, 2025. Among the clubs sanctioned are some of the country's most prominent teams, including Persebaya Surabaya, Persija Jakarta, and Persib Bandung.
Persebaya Surabaya received a fine of IDR 200 million due to significant flare activity by their supporters, which led to a temporary stoppage of the match against Bali United on May 23, 2025. The incident occurred after multiple flares were ignited in the stands, forcing officials to halt the game until conditions were deemed safe for continuation.
Persija Jakarta was penalized even more heavily, with a fine of IDR 220 million. This sanction followed a similar disruption during their match against Malut United FC on the same day. Supporters lit numerous flares and threw firecrackers onto the pitch, causing yet another interruption. The violations were recorded in several stadium sections, highlighting a coordinated breach of matchday regulations.
Persib Bandung, the reigning Liga 1 champions, also faced disciplinary action. They were fined IDR 200 million after fans ignited multiple flares and launched firecrackers during their game against Persis Solo on May 24, 2025. These repeated offenses across different clubs prompted strong reactions from PSSI, emphasizing the need for stricter enforcement of safety standards in Indonesian football stadiums.
