6th Jun. Al-Hilal’s First Bid for Osimhen Rejected by Napoli and Striker Himself
Al-Hilal faced a major setback in their pursuit of Victor Osimhen as their initial offer was outright rejected by both Napoli and the Nigerian striker. Napoli insisted that any transfer must meet the full €75 million release clause stipulated in Osimhen’s contract. Meanwhile, Osimhen found the proposed €26 million annual salary from Al-Hilal insufficient, signaling that he is not yet convinced to leave European football for the Saudi Pro League.
The new Al-Hilal coach, Simone Inzaghi, personally tried to persuade Osimhen through a phone call, but that effort was not enough to change the striker’s mind. With top European clubs losing interest or withdrawing from the race, Osimhen’s future remains uncertain. Napoli remains firm in demanding the full release clause fee, rejecting a €65 million plus bonuses offer from Al-Hilal, emphasizing their unwillingness to sell the player below the agreed price.
In addition to Napoli’s stance, Osimhen is seeking a significantly higher salary to consider leaving Europe, as he still aims to compete at the highest level. Other clubs, such as Galatasaray, have made offers but with lower wages and transfer fees that are unlikely to satisfy both Napoli and the player. Major English clubs appear to have shifted focus away from Osimhen, leaving Al-Hilal as the main contender.
Unless Al-Hilal improves their financial proposal substantially, Osimhen is likely to remain with Napoli for the upcoming season. The striker might reconsider his options in the next transfer window if no better offers emerge. Napoli continues to see Osimhen as a key asset for their squad and is determined to hold on to him unless their demands are fully met.
