6 Liga 1 Clubs, Including Persib, Pass Professional Club Licensing Without Conditions

In a recent announcement, PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) confirmed that six Liga 1 clubs, including Persib Bandung, have passed the professional club licensing process without any conditions. These six clubs, which also include PSS Sleman, Borneo FC, Persita Tangerang, Persik Kediri, and Dewa United, met all the required criteria set by the league. In contrast, 12 other clubs passed with certain conditions. The professional licensing process evaluates clubs based on five key criteria: Sporting, Infrastructure, Personnel and Administrative, Legal, and Financial.
This year's process has seen an improvement, with a new policy stating that clubs failing to meet the licensing requirements will face penalties, including point deductions. The six teams that passed without conditions are now eligible to participate in the AFC Champions League 2 (ACL 2) and the AFC Challenge League in the upcoming 2025-26 season. However, the exact number of Indonesian teams that will participate in these tournaments will depend on the final standings in Liga 1 and AFC's decision on Indonesia's ranking in Asia.
The licensing evaluation process began in November 2024 and continued through April 2025, with clubs being given time to meet all requirements. PT LIB aims to raise the overall standards of Indonesian football by ensuring that clubs meet strict licensing criteria. This is a significant step forward, as for the first time in history, all Liga 1 clubs are eligible for professional licensing, with just a few clubs meeting the requirements without conditions. This marks a promising future for Indonesian football.
