Malut United Eyes Asian Competition After Impressive Victory Over Persis Solo

Malut United FC boosted their chances of qualifying for an Asian football tournament after a dominant 3-1 win against Persis Solo during Matchweek 28 of the 2024/2025 Liga 1 season. The away victory propelled Malut United to fourth place in the league standings, putting them within reach of a spot in next season's AFC Challenge League.
The match, held at Manahan Stadium in Solo on Saturday, April 12, saw YakobSayuri shine with a hat trick that secured all three points for Malut United.
Head coach Imran Nahumarury credited the team’s success to their discipline and ability to stick to the tactical plan. While satisfied with the result, Imran remains grounded, acknowledging that six crucial matches remain in the season. He emphasized the importance of continuous learning and maintaining focus as the competition intensifies.
Midfielder Wbeymar Angulo echoed a similar mindset. Rather than getting caught up in the standings, he emphasized the squad’s determination to stay focused on their upcoming matches. He believes consistent effort and teamwork will be key to finishing the season strong.
With this win, Malut United now sits on 46 points from 28 matches—just three points behind third-placed Persebaya Surabaya. However, their position isn’t entirely secure, as Persija Jakarta and PSM Makassar trail closely with only a two-point difference.
Looking ahead, Malut United will host PSBS Biak in their next fixture on Friday, April 18, at GeloraKieRaha Stadium in Ternate, North Maluku.
