Deschamps announced on a news program on France Télévisions that he will step down after the 2026 World Cup.



Deschamps stated: "I have been coaching the French team since 2012, and I plan to continue until 2026, through to the World Cup, but that will be it. This is very clear in my mind."

"I will continue with the same aspirations and the same passion to keep the French team at the highest level. When good things happen, we never want them to stop, but you also have to know when to stop."

Since taking charge of the French national team in the summer of 2012, Deschamps has led the team to two World Cup finals, winning the title in 2018. Additionally, he guided the team to victory in the UEFA Nations League in 2021.

Currently 56 years old, Deschamps has coached the French team in 166 matches, achieving 106 wins, 31 draws, and 29 losses. During these matches, the team scored 347 goals and conceded 152.
