Liverpool hosts holiday fundraising event

According to an official announcement from Liverpool, the "Forever Reds" holiday fundraising event took place at Anfield this past Monday, raising over £80,000. The funds will be used to support former players in need and local charitable causes.
The event was held in the "Beautiful Game" hospitality lounge at Anfield, where many of Liverpool's legendary players gathered to support the "Forever Reds" organization. Among the attendees were Thiago, Daniel Sturridge, Robbie Fowler, Steve McManaman, Graeme Souness, Natasha Dowie, Becky Easton, Kenny Dalglish, and Alan Hansen.
The main part of the event began with a welcome speech by "Forever Reds" chairman John Aldridge, who paid tribute to former players who sadly passed away in 2024. A representative from the charity "Zoe’s Place" also gave a speech, expressing gratitude for the recent £150,000 donation from "Forever Reds" to support their citywide fundraising efforts.
Aldridge said: "This has been another incredible event, and it’s growing year by year. It’s great to see us all coming together again to support ‘Forever Reds.’"

"Our work for former players and local charities is very important, and this year, we’re proud to donate a substantial amount to 'Zoe’s Place' to support their citywide activities. Thank you for their involvement today."
Liverpool's Chief Legal Officer and Executive Sponsor of "Forever Reds," Jonathan Banbury, added: "A huge thank you to everyone who joined us this year. It’s fantastic to see so many fans attending to celebrate our former players and the work of ‘Forever Reds.’ It really does make a difference."
The event featured two special Q&A sessions hosted by Peter McDowall, first with Thiago and Gary McAllister, followed by Hansen, Dalglish, and Souness, as they recalled their treasured moments as Reds players.
Guests then enjoyed a three-course festive meal and participated in a live auction, bidding on items and experiences that money can’t buy, including VIP tickets, signed shirts, and other memorabilia.
Local singer-songwriter Kieo provided live music, performing songs from the club’s songbook. This annual Christmas celebration aims to raise funds for former players and support those in need.
