In the 2024 Copa Libertadores final, Botafogo defeated Atlético Mineiro 3-1 to claim the title.



This is Botafogo's first-ever Copa Libertadores championship, and they have become the 27th team in the history of the tournament to taste victory. Independiente of Argentina is the most successful club in Copa Libertadores history, having won the tournament 7 times. However, their most recent triumph was in 1984—40 years ago.

Botafogo's head coach is Arthur Jorge from Portugal, who took over the role in April this year. In less than a year, he led the team to win the most prestigious continental title.
Arthur Jorge has also become the third Portuguese coach to reach the Copa Libertadores final, and all three Portuguese coaches have won the final in their four appearances.
